Geekin’ the Suburbs

This story ran today in the Olympian.

It really is a great store, and the new one will be even better.

I first parsed “occ” as “OOC” and thought you were outing yourself as an AI construct rather than a real person, and finally posting “out of character.” :-)

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Olympic Comics and Cards, as I have a lot of friends that live in the area. I will go out of my way to patronize said establishment if I’m ever up that way again.

Have you ever been to Comic Relief in Berkeley, owned by the awesome Rory Root? I travel quite a bit out of my way to make that my weekly stop for my pull list, because it’s the same vibe – people hanging out and reading, talking to the learned staff at length, and Rory also carries tons of high end art books, photography books, periodicals, etc. I don’t know if it’s possible to find a friendlier and more welcoming place to buy sequential literature in the state of California.

Ah, that’s great. Couldn’t happen to a nicer lady and the half-man-half-platypus she married!

That’s pretty darn awesome. It’s good to see a store get such well deserved pubilcity.

I think I saw a CGI rendering of the new location on someone’s lj; it looked like it was previously a warehouse store of some kind. Very impressive.

    Congrats Gabi!

That is a huge upgrade! Hopefully someday I’ll get to visit the store. I’d love to see it.
