Crime Bibles and Sin Cities

Minor hype.

First off, I’m going to be in Las Vegas next Saturday, the 26th, at the Sahara West Library, from 11am to 5pm, for Comics Fest. Looks to be a fairly small gathering, with panels and opportunities for discussion.

If you’re in the area, please stop by. I’m packing my signing pens!!

And in the interest of continuing to pimp Crime Bible, a nice page from the upcoming Issue 4, “The Lesson of Murder.” It’s been something of a challenge for me, trying to pick a piece to preview, here, because there’s an element of mystery to the issue in question, and I don’t want to spoil anything for those who actually, y’know, like to be surprised.

So instead I offer this — Renee and Tot. For those fans of Denny’s run, please note that Tot is both in his bathrobe, and armed with a cup of coffee. Art and inks by Diego Olmos.

(I’d actually wanted to do a riff in 52 with Tot complaining about the lack of good java to be found in Nanda Parbat.)

Here ya go! Enjoy!

    “I’m packing my signing pens!!”

    I misread this line.

Let’s just leave it at that.

    One-track gutter.

Oh, those inks are, in a word – or phrase – a megalith of awesome. Very, very nice.

I get it from Eric. That can’t come as a surprise to you.

Thanks for the preview page! Can’t wait man! :D

since i didn’t see a thread specifically for it, let me say what a kickass story was this week’s checkmate.

More Russians (and Georgians) than you can shake a stick at!

And that was one scary Medusa-clops. :>

I wouldn’t be bragging about getting ANYTHING from Eric, especially in a public forum. And don’t tell me you misread “public.” :D

It’s editor Siglain’s favorite issue of the 5, actually.

Glad you dug it. The workload on that one was pretty evenly split between myself and Trautmann, and I thought he did a really great job with it.

It was an honest mistake! WHY MUST YOU KEEP PUNISHING ME?!

    CM #22!!

    Mr. Rucka. Checkmate #22.

    That made my week.

(My pacifist credentials really go out the window when I type out comments like this, don’t they? Do you know any other pacificist vegans with vaguely Buddhist beliefs that love Ennis’s Punisher and can’t wait for the asskickery in Checkmate? Because if so, I’d like to meet them. I need to form a club.)

    Re: CM #22!!

    That was all Trautmann, frankly.

He’s got a dark, dark soul, that one does.

    Re: CM #22!!

Okay, but CM #21 was you, I’m assuming. That issue also made me glad to be alive (and literate). Just wonderful, wonderful stuff. I’m such a sucker for a good Resistance story. Vive la France!

    Re: CM #22!!

Ah, I think I misrepresented. Trautmann and I divided writing chores on each of the issues much as Brubaker and I did when we were working on Gotham Central together. We plotted the issues in concert, then divvied up the pages. I handled most of the flashback/”legacy” material, and the modern “politics,” and Eric…well, Eric handled the wetwork, for which he is terrifyingly well-suited.

Re: CM #22!! – so, let me parse this out a little

So, let me parse this out a little.

GREG: *cogent and skillful depiction of a turbulent historical period*
    GREG: *Sasha/Terrific!Sex*
    GREG: *political powerplays*
    ERIC: CLAWHAMMER! Vengeance Trilogy!

    …kinda like that?
