Both Rustavi 2 and GPB — Georgian independent and public TV, respectively — are still available. However, every time I check on them, they’re running movies.

Yesterday, it was Braveheart subtitled in Georgian on Rustavi. Today, Rustavi is showing Troy, dubbed.

    I swear, it’s like we’re heading back to the 1950s. :P Damn.

I can’t get this off my mind. It’s such a huge deal and yet the world’s just content to watch the Olympics and be oblivious….

Wait a second… do you guys think Russia’s timing on this was intentionally to coincide with the Olympics to draw attention away?

Other way around: Georgia thought it would use the cover of the Olympics to take care of some business. Russia seized the opportunity to teach Georgia and other pro-Western former Soviets a lesson.

I meant more about the cyber-attacks. I think they’d have been a much bigger story without the Olympics

Actually, I think that’s standard operating procedure in war now and it would have happened in any event. It may or may not be illegal, but the countries which are advanced enough to have that capability tend to be the ones which can overlook little things like that.
